Move it Mama - The Sparkle Pod

Shine On Founder Fee Kirkpatrick - business, cancer + more

Episode Summary

(TW: cancer and grief) Hello! We're super excited to be back here for a very beautiful bonus episode this week. Today, we had the privilege of sitting down with Fee Kirkpatrick for an honest, grounding, and powerful chat. As Dan fell sick in 2024, we were introduced to Fee by a member of our community - and thank goodness we were. As Leece explains in her introduction, she has given so much of her time and energy to us over the last few years. Fee generously shares her story as a mum to two boys and wife to Gene, and takes us inside the journey of building fashion business Shine On from the ground up - what it really took, what it demanded, and the parts of herself she had to grow into along the way. We then talk about the day husband Gene was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, and how life instantly split into “before” and “after.” Fee opens up about life as a carer, the weight of holding it all together, and the unexpected lessons that come when you’re forced to live in the most present, raw version of yourself. There are parallels in Fee’s journey and Leece’s, and both Fee and Leece reflect on connection, hope, resilience, and what it means to keep showing up when life doesn’t look anything like you planned. We also dive a little into the quiet but powerful shifts - learning who your true friends are, what really matters, what gets stripped away, and what somehow becomes even more precious. This is a conversation about grief and grace, ambition and perspective, loss and love - and the ongoing work of rebuilding a life while still living inside it. Thank you Fee, for showing up as you did today - we are so grateful.
